Robert S. Gottlieb has been admitted to the practice
of law since 1965. From 1965 through 1967 he served
with the United States Army where he attained the rank
of Captain.
Mr. Gottlieb started his legal career with the Corporation
Counsel of The City of New York where he was initially
employed in the Title Department of the Condemnation
Division. He then switched over to the litigation section
where he became a senior trial attorney.
From 1970 until 2000, Mr. Gottlieb was in private practice
where he practiced exclusively in condemnation law.
During the years from 1988 through 2000, Mr. Gottlieb
was a principal in the firm of Greco & Gottlieb.
During his legal career, he has handled approximately
500 condemnation matters involving almost every conceivable
valuation problem. Among his clients have included Kentucky
Fried Chicken, Wendy's International Domino's Pizza
Chain, Cineplex Odeon Theatre Chain, Sun Refinery and
Marketing Company, Getty Petroleum, Gasateria Oil Company,
Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Bowery Savings Bank, New York
City Union of Carpenters and Times Square Television
Studios.
One of his most significant cases involved The Times
Square Studios which consisted of approximately 40,000
square feet of space in the 42nd St. Urban Renewal Project.
The initial offer by the City to Times Square Studios
was $2,710,000; however, after trial the Court awarded
$7,250,000, plus interest.
Mr. Gottlieb received his B.A. from Syracuse University
and his J.D. from St. John's Law School. He resides
in Manhasset, New York with his wife, Constance.
